Shipping a Transit engine on a pallet

Right. Van has suddenly grown an expensive knock... A friend has found a low mileage van that has rotted out (as they do..) and he has volunteered to put the engine on a pallet for me which is fantastic. Not so fantastic is the engine is currently on a scottish island, and I dont have any way to get the pallet off at this end apart from an engine hoist and I think its going to be a bit high for that..
Any suggestions for a courier and might they have a hiab?

Try Paisley Freight - they're based in Scotland so should be able to give you a good price and I understand they can provide a tailift delivery.

You'll need to make sure the engine's been fully drained and properly wrapped up.

I had a pair of new "take off" Land Rover axles delivered to me on a pallet and lorry driver asked where my fork lift was ! We had to unload them with engine crane plus brute force so ensure any shipper has ability to do that when getting quotes.
Weigh up cost of transporting against repairing your own engine or sourcing a replacement locally. To get from a Scottish island to Cirencester alone could be very expensive.

Our half pallet size is the same price as other people's quarters.
It is VITAL to drain every last bit of oil. Also put absorbent stuff between the engine and the pallet to catch any little drips.
Tail lifts are standard.
If it is on a Scottish Island we can give you a special price - the official pallet prices are insane to the Scottish Islands but we have local partners who take it to Glasgow or Edinburgh for onward shipment though our normal networks.

Tail lifts and pump trucks come as standard with the pallet services around here - as does a tug up a sloping drive way!!

Tail lifts are standard with every UK pallet network. The usual reason for trying to deliver without one is when access is tight and they send in a van. Or if a lorry has broken down. Vans don't usually have tail lifts - some Lutons do though but limited to 500kg.

I wish... three of us shoving the pallet truck got it just far enough for the gates not to shut. Had to get Egyptian with it to get it up the rest of the drive and round the front of the van.. Warmest day of the year you say?
