Jaws should be hardened or made from a grade of metal that will not loose it's edge.
Just out of interest tried filling our shrinker jaws, they were V hard on all faces.
Did not try the gripping face
There is no wear in handle socket, they are a generic make as we thought they were an occasionally used tool.
Tried them on some 1mm sheet they worked ok slower than the alloy and required more Umph !! to work a expected
