I have some good years of experience in welding, started by using stick and then moved to mig, which I use frequently. I really mastered the process well on CO2. Lately everyone was talking about argon and its benefits for getting neater welds.
So, I got myself a bottle of argon...however as I tried to weld steel or stainless steel, I got a lot of spatter and though the welding beads appeared uniform, penetration wasn't as good as with CO2...not even when I increased gas gradually to the max...
Do you have any suggestions?
