Sheet Steel Suppliers

Ive rang everyone possible in the Yellow pages and none will sell to the individual.

Does anyone know of a Sheet steel supplier in or around Wirral
I only want 3mm-4mm sheet steel ffs!!

Steel stockholders can be a funny bunch in that they don't like selling to non trade. Can you pick up the sheet or do you need it delivered?

Find a local fab shop, they most likely have a bit in stock, and cut it to size.
Wouldnt bother with stock holders unless you want more than a couple of sheets.

Yeah I can pick up a sheet no problem.

Just been round a few fab shops mate. Asked them if they knew where I could get some
"No" or "Some guy delivers it"
Can you sell me a sheet then?

I only need something like half a dozen 2ftx2ft plates.
DHL would pick up up to 25KG for £10

OK, found a supplier - Liverpool Steel
They charge £36.66 for 6ftx3ft lengths (non trade)
Is that reasonable?

Work the price out by weight. It's about £650 a tonne plus VAT from a large stockholder. Expect to pay £1000 plus VAT from a smaller fish..

Cheers for that mate. Looks like they only do 3 or 4mm thin strips.
Ho hum...just gonna have to pony up the readies if I want the steel.
Not too bad I suppose...hopefully its British steel and not that crappy Korean or Chinese stuff

Mate, is that for 3mm or something less???

I am being quoted £40.00 for 3X6 in 1.2mm Cold Reduced (2000mmX1000mmx1.2mm). Granted this is with the sheet cut into 3 pieces (36.00, otherwise).

Try www.yell.com I put in STEEL STOCKHOLDER in the Service box and L12 for area. Got LOADS.

I found Harvey's on Dundas Street, Deeside.
They charge £38 for 6x3 3mm which seems reasonable.

Plus its round the corner from Land Ranger which is handy

I use Metal Supermarkets in Glasgow. Have a look to see if you have a MS locally; they are set up to supply smal users, a bit more expensive but very flexible. They will also cut and trim plates to size. They are worth looking out for.

I could really use someone near Jct 11, M25 that I could actually visit to buy steel. I used Canterbury Steel when I lived in Kent, but Surrey doesn't seem to support such activities.
