Sheet steel doors to paint

Hi all

I've getting there with a set of double doors for my garage, and wondering what's going to be the best paint ? They are skinned with new 2mm steel, so need a white paint that I can brush/roller on ... any advise please

roll or spray normal metal paint, the stuff Aldi / Lidl sell is pretty good, i usually slap some red lead on first

Personally I’d get a DA and an 80 grit disk and go over the doors to give it a good key. Then zinc phosphate or red oxide primer.
Then a coat of metal paint. Alkaloid based like what proper hammerite used to be or high build vinyl.

Epoxy primer, Jotun 87 would be my choice.

Followed by a polyurethane topcoat, such as Jotun hardtop XP or zinnser allcoat if you want water based

I brushed Rust-Oleum Combicolor primer then topcoat on my similar doors and that seems to have worked quite well.

Edit - looks like the primer I used is called Combiprimer.

as @Brad93 said deffo key them down first oh,and dont paint them in full on sun
Not gonna suggest paint as it would be the right one

good key and epoxy primer first if you want it to last

key , clean with panel wipe , self etch primer , top with anything you like.

And mine will outlast Galv - but needs a very good keying of the surface first.

slightly different thought , one of the plant guys round here ,,, gets plant blasted , sand / grit , and then stands the machine outside for a day or two , till it just starts to turn rusty , then paints it , he uses the rust as the key to paint to , then as the paint gets rid of the oxygen the rust stops and the paint has the perfect mechanical bond . not saying its the answer ,,, but its certainly an answer.

Me,be the cheapest about,it'll end up with some toerag writing/tagging on it at some point

Spend sometime on the capillary gap between sheet and frame. Either keep water out with sealant or run wax corrosion inhibitor into the joint after painting.
Where the water sits between will be the first place to rot.

Especially on white paint. You'll end up with a rust coloured stain around the edge after next to no time otherwise.

Just clear etching lacquer, maybe let it rust first or go for the whole rat look!!
