I've cut the centre out of a pair of wishbones and i'm replacing the metal with another section made of sheet steel. The wishbones are made of 2.5mm sheet, but I only have 2mm sheet lying around. I was thinking that I should add in some extra strength with internal ribs/bracing. I'm not sure what the best approach for this would be.
The pic below should explain what i'm trying to achieve. Excuse the rusty bits of metal, i was using those for mocking up.
The pic below is what i'm intending to make.
The question is, which plane do I add strengthening to? In the direction of the yellow through the vertical centre, or the direction of the blue line through the horizontal centre?
