I find it easier to cut along a masking tape line than a pen line usually. We use a decent 1mm cutting disc and save them when they get worn down as a small one can get into small gaps. I also use my Dremel for cutting very small bits out in tricky places, but it takes a while and you have to do it carefully.

Thanks guys I did cut some scrap metal over the weekend and after deburring the results were amazing I used marker to draw a straight line and I cut it with just the edge of my disc. I couldn't believe the results I'm going to practice cutting some surves.

Once you get good at that perhaps try cutting some curves

try cutting along a piece of 2x1 batton and use the gearbox on the grinder as a sliding guide against the timber..can be held with 2 small G-clamps or i just put 2 heavy angle plates on the batton
