Asking for advice again if you have time. Like most of us I am running out of usable space again and need to find space that is dedicated to the welding part of my hobbies. My current space is shared by a woodworking shop and my metalworking machine tools, neither of which sit comfortably with being sprayed with grinder dust or welding splatter. I have tried curtains but without much success. My ever patient other half wants an old greenhouse replaced with one of these summer house things so she can sit and read outside but in the shade. I have been thinking of making it much longer to provide me with a dedicated workshop for small fabrication jobs. this leaves me with a few questions that I can't seem to answer myself:-
1. What type of construction? Should I go for a sectional concrete type which will need the usual condensation protection and I guess a more substantial base, or can a normal log cabin type thing be made OK for welding in?
2. The space I have would allow a max of 3m x 6m, so allowing for the reading room I would be left with a max of 4m x 3m - is that large enough?
3. Our neighbours on that side are OK but they keep chickens in that area so I would need to make an effort at some reasonable sound proofing otherwise they will need to start buying eggs. Is that a viable possibility as they would be less than 2m away?
Any advice or experience would be much appreciated.
