You are right of course, I had in mind the powder one next to my office oil boiler. I have weighed all the CO2 ones and marked up their paper charts, and do very occasionally trot round with a 'fish scale' balance.CO2 do not have guages, they are classed by their weight.,
Have you looked at the Water Mist extinguishers - not sure how they stack up in practice (fairly sure that's the ideal scenario for any extinguisher), but they look good on paper/demos.
Didn't realise the co2 never had a gauge, all the others seem to have and are all still in the green. I took note of what type should go where, the man said workshop is foam, powder and co2, stables have the water ones and everywhere else has a mix of them all.

Water mist has a "Misting Nozzle" on the hose, as long as the levers are in use it is a constant discharge. Not convinced of burn back times on a really hot oil fire either…
As for water mist, Ive seen a few water mist systems tested. And its not exactly a mist, more a spray stopping and restarting.
There's no one fits all….scenarios…..different agents perform differently under the varying conditions due to whats burning.
Current guidance is leave and ring the 3 numbers.
