sharpening lathe cutting tool

Hi Guys I have a bench lathe that my late grandfather gave me ( he was a tool maker ) but ive no idea how to sharpen the cutting tools, ive tried to go with the angles on the bits to just brighten them up but its no use so any help would be appreciated. Dave

Google 'sharpening lathe tools', one of those things that's a LOT easier to explain with pics or video for example...

If you check out the links section of the forum there's a bunch of videos from MIT covering most things in a machine shop including lathe work

Hi Pete i live near Chelmsford Essex but as it goes im working nights in Sittingbourne friday-sunday !!!, The bench lathe i have is just a hobby jobby driven by rubber belts with a chuck that goes to around 1", my grandad had it for his model boat building, My hobby is building VW beach buggys and i only use the lathe for turning down pipe fittings etc but i need its services as i need to accurately shorten some cromoly pushrods for a new engine im building, The thing im stumped on is sharpening lathe tools if you could give me some guidance i would really appreciate it, If its ok could i call in on Saturday around 0930-1000 on my way home to bed !!. many thanks Dave
