clean file thoroughly and dip them in for a about 6 hoursJust neat battery acid, out of the battery? How long do you soak them for?
that will take the sharp edges off . acid burns it backCompound on a buffing wheel works as well
If it has sharp edges it probably doesn't need sharpening..that will take the sharp edges off . acid burns it back
that realy helps members needing themI dont bother. Ten years ago i cleared a school D&T workshop, in one of the cupboards were boxes & boxes of brand new files. I sold a few but have kept enough in all flavours to see me out!
Might have been nice if we'd had some of those at my school: although I didn't realise it then, mild steel isn't that hard to file as long as the file isn't smoother than the thing you're filing.I dont bother. When i was a Technician at college & later at a school the same happened all the files & hacksaws were blunt. It seems that previous techies or teachers regarded the new ones in the stores as their own personal property. I just scrapped the lot & put new ones out. The kids appreciated it straight away.Might have been nice if we'd had some of those at my school: although I didn't realise it then, mild steel isn't that hard to file as long as the file isn't smoother than the thing you're filing.

I was given a box of Eclipse hacksaw blades, not having a power hacksaw I used the blades.that will take the sharp edges off . acid burns it back
Is it me? just don't get this...I was given a box of Eclipse hacksaw blades, not having a power hacksaw I used the blades.
for cleaning polishing mops, I might still have a few of the blades, the teeth are all rounded.
What you want is a pyramid to put them in!
Bloke in the next room to us had to much to dream in the 60's, I was told to have a look in his room
day, every horizontal surface has a paper pyramid on it. So I asked what he was doing. He was sharpening
razor blades. You leave something in a pyramid and it gets sharpened man, isn't that groovy.
