The hobbyweld ultra (and the other en561 types) have a built in regulator.
The connectors themselves are very good although they are expensive so it gets costly if you want to add the connectors to multiple hoses although you do get a single connector included with each new bottle rental so you could use that to make an adaptor up.
I have some of the connectors if you need one though.

The regulator on the hobbyweld and the boc bottles are both very good, not quite as good as an expensive 2-stage but certainly much better than a cheap single-stage.
I presume the other versions are comparable although I have not tried them.

The only downside with the hobbyweld ultra is it is quite tight to get your hand in to turn the bottle off and there are often sharp edges on the plastic shield that it's easy to catch your hand on

I guess the built in regulators could work out in my advantage then as I will not have to purchase 2 new regs. saying that are they the same as the mig regs?

You are not supposed to use a mig regulator with pure oxygen so your exiting reg won't be much use.
You can use an oxygen regulator on mig gas just fine though.
Although I don't know if it is then permissable to use it on oxygen again after being on another gas?

The hobbyweld (etc) integrated regulators do save you having to buy & replace your own regs though. And it's a lot quicker/easier to swap between bottles as well.

Just watch out for the quick-couplings on oxy/fuel bottles though as, usually, you would have some method of preventing incorrect connections, ie a fuel gas getting connected to the mig welder!

It's easier to get something mixed up if you end up with a load of compatible hoses!
Probably not an issue if you keep everything organised and tidy but if younhave a cramped workshop with all the bottles wedged in a corner and a spiderweb of hoses as well....

Ok then that settles it I will go for the bigger bottles with the built in regs. Just won a torch kit on eBay so should be good to go. Thanks for the advice I have never used gas cutting gear before.

SGS ProFuel is Propylene

It wont do gas welding, so your better off sticking with oxygen and propane is all you want it for is heating and brazing

Ive got oxy propane and it does everything i need as a hobbyist

@123hotchef oxy propane is way way cheaper for cutting than acetylene and just as effective

Once you use acet , nothing else will do . You spend more on acet , and save it on your oxy.

One advantage of the quick connects (if you don't explode) would be that you could use propane for all the odd jobs and then it would be quick/easy to swap to a bottle of rent-free acetylene only as required.
It's still a decent outlay at first though as the deposits on the ultra bottles are a lot higher than the normal ones.
in fact the extra on the deposit is pobably not far off the price of buying your own regulator.

Although at least with a rented one you don't have to worry about replacing the regulators when the date runs out.
I know not everybody replaces a mig/tig regulator based on the date (not for personal use anyway) but for a slightly more blowie-uppie gas it might not be a bad idea to keep them regularly inspected at least and the rental companies will be qualified to do that for you.

Never underestimate pure Oxygen. Theres not much that is nastier if you throw in a hard 90 or some oil / dirt .

How much more clutter are they going to strap onto a bottle? I was a wizz bottle roller when they just had the tap on the top, cant get to grips with these tap guards and now they have added gauges
