hello,
ive been playing with my new murex tradesmig 165 to day and i have a few questions...

I cant seem to go above seting number 4 on the wire speed even with the amps on max? why is this..why cant i use top wire speed as it goes up to 10 i think? Also i was using number 6 on amps with num 2 on wire speed on 2mm plate,i thought 6 would be way to high but it was perfect i thought it would burn straigh threw? could there be somthing up with the welder? i hope this makes sence lol thanks ryan

My clarke use #4.5 wire speed on its max setting. WHen doing aluminum, I had it on near 10.

If you are using CO2, your max speed will be 2/3 or so what it is on Ar/CO2 mixes.

Welding mild steel, the wire feed speed on my mig is set at 3 - 4 no matter what voltage I use and I just leave it at that apart from very slight adjustment sometimes. It would be stubbing the wire against the job if it was much higher. (I think you mean volts on max where you say amps on max)
If your welder is 165 amp I would have expected it also like you say, to burn through 2mm plate on maximum volts.
