Serious question regarding PCB (Polychlorinated biphenyls) not Printed Circuit Boards

In some places, your comments would cause a storm but, in a way, you are correct.

They are never filled with PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards)

PCBs happen in the oil through years of having electricity around them

Its a very safe bet to assume that any electrical device immersed in oil, the oil will be contaminated with PCBs (Oil contaminated by Printed Circuit Board fibres)

You must have very blunt fingers from pressing all those buttons.

Currently, the oil is sat ready to be filtered and poured back in to the welder, there isn't enough oil so it will have to be topped up, if it's PCB based, I will dispose of it and fill with new oil, if it's proper oil, I will just top up with the required amount of oil.

From a hazardous material perspective, replacing PCB oil with mineral (non-PCB) oil does not remove the hazard. The new oil is simply contaminated by the old oil unless the container and its surroundings were cleaned according to the rules.

In addition, "dispose of" has a specific meaning and requirement when dealing with hazardous materials.

I'm not sure which is worse - a can of PCB oil or a can of worms.

It can't go to the big oil tank down at the local dump then

It’s only one drum of oil take it out put in a drum label it and store it down the back of the shed.

whats it in a pickhill welder or an oxford . has it lost any oil through leakage. if not there not filled up more than half way and it rises when you put the transformer back in

As above - I suspect the safest place for it is where it currently is....
