Big bandsaw packed in today, poorly hydraulics mean the saw bow keeps dropping. We were looking at buying a new one in any event, with slightly bigger capacity and a bit newer. I'm not throwing anymore money at people trying to sort it, so although a bit earlier than i hoped, the cheque book needs dusting off.
I've spoken to loads of machine dealers today, lots of conflicting information/sales talk and maybe an element of truth spoken amongst it all.
We will buy a good condition used machine, works it to death, then buy a new one. I get more for my money this way rather than buying new.
This one has been recommended by a few. There are sadly not many use machines about by names i recognise - Bomar, Startrite, Kasto and so on...makes that have been around a while, good reputation etc. Obtaining one is made more difficult by virtue that we want a big one - there's not many about.
The one i have linked to, and a few others i notice are from Taiwan or similar (Given away by the partially nonsense text! and plenty of Googling to find where the originate from). Some of the reputable dealers are pedling these that make me wonder whether they are actually any good these days? Has 'chinese' stuff become of better quality, or as i maybe suspect, junk?
Some of them seem like tinny rubbish, but some maybe not so bad.
There's my quandry, i need one quickly, do i wait for something else or take a punt on one of these?
All the reps, as standard pratice, tell me whatever they happen to have in stock is the best thing since sliced bread, and whatever their competitor is offering will blow up and fall into a pile of bits the second we press start. I wish people would just be honest.
Thoughts are welcome....
