Too much hassle for me now…only used classified adds, to sell a Landrover and a bike recently. A few years ago sold a bike the guy came and bought it, then sent a courier to collect it. Must admit I did photograph it going in his van, and condition once in to avoid any dispute.
And take a photo of the bloke collecting it.
You could also get his fingerprints if you are sneaky. A glass of water served on a plate would work.

Yeah, err, I am a cynic but I think this is going a bit too far! You've been watching too much Mission Impossible.
Frankly, it's not about the money, it's about freeing up that space so that I can buy a vehicle I can drive in London without donating to Sadiq Khans chosen religion.
Shame I had to let it go with four good new tyres but I rescued the amazing stereo and surprisingly valuable Portaramp™.
Does mean I'll probably end up with a 4KW subwoofer in the shed but where's the harm in that...

Well the buyer has texted to say the van will be picked up tomorrow for cash. Can't think of any reason he'd do that unless it was going to happen.
He is sending a driver to collect on a flatbed and I am unsure about the address for the V5C though frankly, I don't think that's a problem. I have a UV torch which should rule out fake notes but can't "take the buyer to the bank" (it's a relatively small sum anyway). Got the AA receipt ready for <someone> to sign and when the dust settles, I'll ping the actual buyer for a positive feedback.
Timing is the critical issue, obviously I'll want all the paperwork and cash settled before the van moves. That might be the only sticking point. I'll save that requirement for tomorrow though...

Reading between the lines of the text, I think he is literally sending a driver. To drive it away. 
If I was being generous I'd call it a death trap so I hope it's going on a trailer. At one stage I offered to drive it onto "the trailer" for him, at his risk. Is there I wonder an instant transfer method, maybe ring up the DVLA (unlikely!) or dial 101?

Thought I'd do a test run with 101. Perhaps unsurprisingly, completely useless. Go around in circles until you are literally forced to go to the online chat where:

DVLA Online ransfer actually works.
Bank transfer - 'can' work but last time I bought a car was in Covid times - so £4k transferred sight unseen, with a courier company lined up to collect the following day. It all got very intreting when Barclas stopped the transfer as potentially fraudulent - and it took me several hours to get them to release it.... (Car was/is great BTW)
Time before that (Maybe 10 years ago now?!) - drove up, saw the car, liked it, bought it with bank transfer, DVLA transferred immediately, online insurance arranged immediately, and car tax... yes immediately.

get insurance tax (car had mot) and then i will drive it i drive so i can work no car no work

FFS. Ok so I'm thinking this is one too many red flags:
Could just be a phishing expedition. Name, phone number, address, bank details. Just too much info when I have no idea who this chap is.

In working hours, a bank transfer should be pretty much instant.
The common scams with that are you'll get an email or a screen-shot showing it's been paid. Don't presume the money has arrived or is 'pending' or anything like that. The only way to know for sure is when you see it in your account.
Another common one is 'can I send you more than you asked for and can you pay some or all of the surplus to the driver.'
To be fair, a payee will need your name and account details to send you the money, and they'll need your address for collection.

I need <someone's> details yes.
But at one stage at 11:59 before the 12 pm pickup he changed the cash to bank xfer. At which point I had given an eBay entity my home address, mobile number, bank details...
So it could just be an effective method for collecting data, aka phishing.
Normally three strikes and you're out. 1. he is not coming himself, 2. I only have a mobile number 3. response to my being away at 12, "I'll send a driver at 11". 4. kept referring to the collection as "sending a driver" not confirming trailer collection 5.changed from cash to bank transfer literally at the last minute
I mean there's more and he did not respond well to my asking for HIS bank details! I don't think he realised that I was merely pointing out the situation of a stranger asking for another persons bank details. No I don't need them but I am interested to hear how you respond.
Anyway. It all worked out in the end though we might not have heard the end quite yet. The van is a shed. I'm not expecting +ve feedback put it that way....
<edit> regards point #3 above. My first reaction was I wonder if they'll use the "limited time" to try and rush through the process, perhaps by changing the method of payment at the last minute...
