Following on from my last thread (worth a read) I thought I'd get some of the STAHLWERK self shielded wire to try. I'm no expert but looking at the following test weld beads I would (tried different speeds and voltages) guess it does indeed need CO2 gas!
My question for the experts is does this look like a weld bead that needs gas? Some expert opinion before I go back to them would be gratefully received. It could be I need to try again.
I put the EWM Self Shielded back in the machine (GYS 140) to compare and this run beautifully with nice smooth beads and little spatter - it's a joy to use. I have to re spool this onto a 100mm spool though - bit of a pain but worth it.
