Over here, we always have Harbor Freight for such tools...Have I got any tools left?
I am very strict on this one. I do not go in my proper tool box for parts and that is that.
I have a box of parts and stuff that do get used. I buy pliers from the pound shop, and hammers etc from car boot sales. using pound shop tools I am doing the worlds knuckles and ears a massive favour, these tools are made from crap materials and will fail under use leading damaged knucles and mass use of profanity. I should get a government grant for this.
When I started out I did wreck a few decent tools. It can be hard, eg '' I need???? Ah!! one of those!!!'' '' but no I use it everyday and it costs money''. You have to be strong.
I have a mate who was making a sculpture of a bird, he needed a round thing for the body. he used the headlight off his BSA. Pillock. Made a beautiful body for his toucan. but he has to use a generic headlamp from Japan on his bike.
Always think twice before you chop up something that might be useful.
But ahhh poundshop pliers, beautiful things, so soft and flexible and weldable. I have become a connosieur of cheap nasty tools.
