Sel-Lok - Sellock -Selok etc etc

Silly inconsequential question but does anyone know the correct name for the spring tension pins that are called Sel-Lok pins (or some version of this)?
I presume it's a registered name but I haven't been able to find it on the internet.
I've always known them as spring tension or roll pins and have only recently come across the Sel-Lok, or whatever it should be, and I'm interested in what the name should really be and where the name came from.
No prizes for the correct answer by the way - I wouldn’t know the "correct" answer anyway!!

We always called them "C" pins or Bissell pins. Roll pins were always made up of more than one layer and often used as driving pins in machinery, designed to shear if the load becomes too great,

I always called them roll pins - I've got a tobacco tin of them somewhere - rarely if ever use them!

There is an entry on Wikipedia but no real information (like the origin of the name you were after).

Choice searches on Google come up with lots of 'roll pin also known as a sellock pin' type references but I can't see one which actually says why it is called a sellock pin?

Sellock could be just another way of saying "self lock" which is what they do,

The pins in the link are the ones, and I think that Gordon is probably right - Sel-Lok seems as though it could well be derived from Self Locking. It would be nice to know who originally developed the idea. I suspect it might be a bit like "Hoover" becoming the generic name for vacuum cleaners. Anyway they're a clever idea - whatever you call them!
