When young I was bought up in a rented house without a bath never mind a sink. It was a case of drag the tin bath up from cellar every week and fill with hot water from a Baby Burco. Moving to a bought new house with even an inside toilet never mind a bath, when I was 7, was luxurious.
I've always fancied a house with a basement garage the same footprint as the rest of the house or a garage with accommodation in loft area
Reminds me of the excellent film with Anthony Hopkins " world's fastest Indian " about the bike nut who lived in his garage. Rather than mowing the grass he just set fire to it!

We live in the midwest so we deal with fairly long winters around here. I love the idea of letting kids roller skate or practice dance, or just run around in the basement.
