It wasnt actually the hull itself that was the problem, it was the use of lower grade iron rivets to save on costs. For the sake of what in those days would have been little money compared to the overall cost, thousands die. Havent learnt that much in all that time have we really? It still comes down to do a job as cheap as possible.
I must correct myself... the steel was not dodgy......and the problem with the rivets was pure sheer force, together with the effect of ice cold water.....
Easiest job in the world to pick holes in someone elses work.
As long as it holds, it doesn't matter what it looks like.
You want it to do the job, not wine it, dine and take it to bed and f*** it !
