[Spot the welders dog]

Steel box bolted internally to the floor through a ground anchor and electro magnet lid. From the ceiling I would hang live wires - switchable from a hidden switch under the plant pot outside: or a combined key/switch on the entrance door - and maybe a simple indicator to show you when its powered up. Don't forget the appropriate sign to keep you on the right side of the law incase the poor little soles get hurt whilst helping themselves to your gear!
Don't neglect to 'mark' you tools & keep the S/N's off site.

Failing that: do as I do and keep your welder under the living room table

I hear what you are say but. If the alarm doesn't activate until they are inside then it's a waste of time fitting one. (in my opinion) People don't take any notice of alarms they see them as a nuisance, and someone else's problem. The only way an alarm works is if YOU are informed of a *possible* breakin, ie triggering the anti-vibration circuit

it depends how loud the alarm is i think you can have 120dB it will make them less determined to break in if there ears are bleeding

i have 5 day and nite cameras round my house dvr recorder in the attic steel mesh fence with barbed wire on top round back of house infrared beams across the drive. garage and house alarmed wired to an autodialer on my mobile and believe me iive caught a few in garden to there perril. i can even see how many people have activated the cameras each day

Good point, I know mine is friendly with me around if like a bottle of pop but when im not he is very protective of the house, garden, shed etc.

There is also that age old problem of if someone is hurt while stealing from you then you are to blame BUT thats lower down on my list than stopping the robbing *******.

Is there anything that might be easily identified if we see people selling it down the pub. I have no qualms about grassing up tool thieves to the rossers.

By your post it looks like your a prime a candidate for the long term jail award.. it is illegal to set any trap or snare with the intention of harming someone be they a thief or an accidental trap activator ..it is to prevent emergency crews and people legally authorised to enter etc. from getting zapped as well as to protect innocents ... kids etc.

You never know one day it might even be you that gets zapped by your own device due to a moments memory lapse etc.

Though in South Africa the police do not go into any where unless the owner is there leading the way because of such man traps.

Thanks for the support guys, theres not much I can do about it I suppose it was just some hand tools the hot chisels and centre punches Ill just have to make again and the rest of it Ill just have to replace The worst thing is that Im pretty certain I know who it was n'all theres a crew of pikeys down the end of our row ( and by pikeys I mean little pikey ***** and not Gypsies!) Im loath to get the gavvers involved cos their useless down our way anyways. I did think about capturing one of the little ***** and making an example of him, maybe weld him into an oil drum! Obviously Id put some air holes in first

That's good , they help it sink after a few minutes in the water ..don't do too many , you need to let the tide get a grip of the drum and take it out beyond the 6 mile limit first.
