Second hand mig

Hi all
Just a few Lines to let you allknow iv'e made up my mind to get a Sealey 190 Profesional mig (new). I have spent hours and hours driving about the country this weekend looking at so called good second hand pro migs. Some people who sell on a well known auction site need to wear strong glasses or be shot The sealey iv'e looked at i can get for a very good price at £360 ish. Before I comit is there any thing i should know about these migs????

If you're really really sure you aren't going to be using it for anything made of thin metal, or for panels and bodywork... It should be okay.

buy this and save a few pound and gain a few amps and duty cycle

unless im very dumb that is a mightymig 210 rebranded, ? i bought it any way getting on fine with it, may i point out that is the wrong duty cycle its 15% at 210

Most of the work i will be doing is my logsplitter and making some gates for my garage and drive. Might try the must have item, the gas bottle log burner lol. Iv'e used migs before in my line of work. Keith19 I was told the range was 30-185Amps. 30Amps should be low enough for car body work????????

I'm only going on the machine plate, in the manual...as I pictured.
Try to take a look at the plate on the actual machine before you buy, they may have altered them, but they may not. 30A is fine, 40A is not good. Not on that class of machine, anyway.
The one Oil-cooled is showing has a low of 45A, even worse for the thin stuff.

Keith19 Thanks for the info and you were spot on it is 40 lowest setting. But some good news my old mig is still working on the 2 lowest settings at about 20-25 amps so will use that for thin stuff. The Sealey has been purchased at £370 including spare tips and shroud. 1 more bit of info? how do i hide something so big and red from the wife lol

put it at the bottom of the wardrobe beside all those shoes and bags she's been hiding from you?

You shove it in a corner of the garage or shed, spray it with a thin film of WD, then lightly scatter dry dust and leaves over it. You then cover it with something like a bit of old tarp, leaving one end just visible. You say nothing for a couple of weeks, but try to make sure she goes in once or twice. She is unlikely to ask what it is, but if she does, you go:
"Oh, yeah, my old welder. Yeah, I was thinkin' of cleaning it up and doing a bit of work on the car. It would save a few quid on garage costs..."

As it's red you could stick a Ferrari badge in it and thell her you bought a red Ferrari. Might be similar to lighting fireworks with your teeth though!
