High temp rtv silicone sealer is ok for parts not submerged in oil or fuel, it’s only resistant and not proof to oil or fuel. I have a tube of gook I bought that is actually oil/fuel proof, my addled brain can’t remember what it’s called, I will have a dig about in the lotionsnpotions cupboard and see if I can find it.

I got all excited to think I might learn something here. I appreciate the vernacular use of oil proof vs. oil resistant but I can't find any technical discussion for it. Nor could I find any product which differentiates itself between oil proof or resistant. Presumably it refers to a British Standard or something?
