Right, I've had the control board out so I can get a good look at it, all seems fine. I've taken a photo of it. The little LED is just between the grey and red things (really showing knowledge here!)

Going to get hold of Sealey tech, but anyone got any ideas?

Well I've still not heard back from Sealey and the cutter still isn't working

Are there any basic things that I can check that may be causing a fault?

Sealey have very kindly provided me with this wiring diagram. Its HUGE and makes little sense to me. Could be fun finding out what means what though.

Going to try and work out which LED relates to what now, might not help that its in Italian

I think they're inductors judging by the wiring diagram. The black boxes look like the relays.

Right, there are 5 LED's on the board and I've accounted for 4 of them

Pulsanti = push switch - Not Lit (until button on torch is depressed)
Potenza = power - Not lit
Aria = Air - Not Lit
Arco Pilota (go on have a guess) = Pilot arc - Not lit.

The LED that is lit seems to relate to the top left hand side of the wiring diagram and connection 3 and 4 which link to the 0v - 18v terminals on the auxillary transformer. Why (other than sods law) its not labelled I don't know! It just has VB printed next to it on the board.

Now my theory goes like this:

The circuit contains a small IC (IC9) which I'm guessing is not happy with the input signal from the aux transformer. This IC then stops the Air and Power relays operating and ergo there is no arc. So is there a way that I can test if this transformer is working properly?

Also is there a way to test if the rectifier is working correctly?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

IC9 is an LM317 - this is an adjustable voltage regulator (adjustable as it's output voltage is set by the resistors R1 & R2) it's output appears to be marked as '+19' on the diagram. IC9 therfore controls the power for this board & hence the LED is a power indicator.
So it would appear that the transformer on pins 3 & 4 is most likely OK.

Does that mean that the LED being lit indicates that the board has power and this is a good thing?

More importantly, any clues on where I might find out why very little happens when I connect the air, plug it in and press the trigger?

Edit: to sum up properly:

When I plug the machine in, the fan comes on and that one LED comes on. When I connect the air the pressure valve is activating (clicks)
When I press the trigger the 'Pulsanti' LED lights and the relay clicks.

This is about it. No arc, no air.
