I've a Sealey SM5 bandsaw (the generic small Taiwanese saw) that I bought in the early 1980's and has always been kept at my home workshop and has done sterling work over the years. I've had access to other saws so doesn't get too much use in recent years. The other week the blade broke during a cut - something that does happen every now and then and I couldn't remember when I last changed it so probably had my moneys worth out of it. I fitted a new blade (the last one from a packet of 5 that I bought a few years back. Since then, the blade will suddenly come off the drive pulley and stop - never completing a full cut. The blade is correctly tensioned and the pulleys are clean and tightly fitted to their spindles. My only thought is that the blade was not welded true such that there is a slight difference between the lengths of the top and bottom of it. Has anyone else had a similar problem? In due course I will get another new blade to try when I'm near to a supplier. Any thoughts?
