Hi all, I've got a 14/15 year old mightymig 130xt.
The wire feed seems a but 'steppy' so I've fitted a new clarke metal wire liner. That's helped a lot, but my feed motor squeals like a stuck pig. I've read a lot here about fitting a transformer, but I think the issue might be the motor or gearbox.
I'm saving for an R Tech inverter type mig, unless further reading here suggests otherwise, but in the mean time I need to keep this old thing going for a current project.
Can anyone suggest a solution? If I need to buy a new wire feed system, where should I think about buying one, and is there a worthwhile upgrade to do while I'm at it? The current wire drive is marked with the number 153900, and appears to be a 24v 10w Johnson drive motor.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Cheers
Kev
