Sealey compressor still not right

Does this motor still work? How hard is it to remove one end cover of the motor? If its not difficult remove one end and take some pictures and post them here.
I've never had much luck with motors that smell burnt, if they've gone that far I've usually scrapped them as the insulation has gone. If a windings burnt out putting new caps on wont help.

I have ordered an insulation tester,just waiting for delivery now.motor still works,just gets red hot.
