Thanks for all the help so far. Im going to try and drill the hole bigger, if that ends in a mess then we have an o ring kit at work.

with less trouble here just goto the shop and buy a rubber flat washer

then get hold of the fitting and cut the plastic off where red mark is

the second pic is a flexi pipe however as its much smaller lug it fits the toilet connecter much better due to it being more flatter

He was a good songster but I'm not sure of his ability with a set of stilsons. Probably best to just use a rubber washer.

he was a black dubber seal-------- wasnt he?

Couldn't find a drill of the right size going handy so I got a 9/16 rubber o-ring. First attempt I didn't seat it correctly not pushing the nut over enough and it leaked. Once I realised to poke it down into/past the nut threads it seems to have done the job nicely.
