Sea fishing

I was fishing and a kid got hooked in the eyelid, his dad tried getting the hook out with a with a
discorger before running off to his car to get pliers to cut the hook. Another old bloke told him he
needed to cut the hook. I stepped in with a pair of Spencer Wells and had no trouble getting the hook out.

I had a look for a fishing rod[my brother must have taken them] as I thought I could ride
down to the coast and get fridays dinner, I eat mackerel on fridays.
What bait and tackle is best for smoked peppered mackerel?

Which is the most sucessful, lug or rag?

I have a few lures which i might have a go with too

Lure fishing is all I do these days saltwater or fresh ,some light tackle and soft lures for perch is great fun . I can't be doing with the just sitting around waiting for something to have a nibble

Wrong gear. A rod, reel, and some bait would help.

What bait and tackle is best for smoked peppered mackerel?

The food isle in Lidl does nice smoked & peppered fish! (Yes, there actually a food isle in Lidl, I went there once)

Which is the most sucessful, lug or rag?

Best fish I have had from shore was a 5 lb codling on lug with a squid tip. That was up near the 2nd Severn Bridge about 25 years ago.
Made good eating , though the majority of the fish was its head !.
I once made the mistake of sticking my lug and rag in the same newspaper. It was carnage ..... the rag won !

A guy at work is into sea fishing, starts off with a few rods...

He sold his house and lives in static, off grid now...half the house money went into a gert boat...
Roll on a couple of years later, he decided the Ranger he uses to put it in and out is a bit small, so now hes bought a Unimog to drag it about with

We did a short boat trip in Lyme a few years ago and caught quite a few, the fisherman had what we didnt keep.
I've never filleted a fish before and the knife was blunt but they tasted good!
