Great bit of kit that! Had one a long time ago which i used daily for years, sold it to a mate whos a plasterer and he abused that drill with a large pallete to mix buckets of plaster and bonding/hardwall. It coped really well for a few years till he's van got broken into! Really tough tools them old hiltis!

Yup. Bought an ex hire small hilti breaker and its bomb proof and pun hews ell above its weight. Shame it was hammer only. Would see more use then.

What is the consensus on 110v versus 240v ?

In my experience the 110v stuff seams to be better build and lasts longer than the 240v stuff, maybe it's better because it's aimed at more industrial/trade where as the 240v stuff is more amateur/lighter use ?

All my 110v stuff I've bought was second hand and I've yet to kill any of it where as a some of my 240v stuff has died including stuff I bought brand new, I can't believe my old Bosch percussion drill still works, I've abused it so much over the years, I had it so hot one time I couldn't hold it without using welding gauntlets but it kept on drilling for me

Most of my 110v tools are still here with me and working every time i get them out of the box however had brand new dewalt 240v router that did not last a few months ! I always thought that 240v tools are DIY range...till i bought a 240v bosch SDS hammer drill and a 350mm elektra beckum panel saw and they impressed me...

Yup, so they have to use thicker wiring to cope with the higher current, perhaps that's is why they (in my experience) seem to last better, perhaps the thicker wire copes with the heat and vibration better

I have both 240v and 110volt 600w motor Makita sds drills had them both for over 10 years constant use there's no difference in use

Another vote for a blue Bosch SDS, the only powertool I have had longer is a 90s Makita 9” angle grinder. I got the 110v Bosch second hand, pushing on ten years ago, no idea how much older than that it is. It has seen at least 4 battery drills come and go in that time.

I don't doubt it one bit however i blew no 110v tool as yet but had a few 240v tools that have bitten the dust... Maybe Makita gear is same underneath but when i got to repair said dewalt router the 240v was different internally to the 110v same model so you couldnt interchange bits from one another... Since then i had numerous high end cabinet fitter/maker specific tools and they were fine even in 240v guise... laminate trimmers, track saws, professional routers, etc.

I have a couple of old bosch blue grinders that are over 10 years old and they still work without maintenance, also a 110v makita 4'' grinder, and a couple of broken 240v makita grinders different models -the 240v grinder rotor spin opposite way to the 240v and i cannot use ones guts to repair the other as bits dont fit !

I still have an AEG SDS drill from the 80's still going strong diy use only. One thing I learned was to use good quality bits.
I have been impressed with Kress kit they used to do Wickes pro range not sure if that is still the case.
