What is the difference between the classes of micro SD cards?

I have a samsung 32Gb micro SD card that is class 1, and a few various sized micro SD cards that are varying classes form 4-8...

what is the difference?

I have just bought a new dash cam and want to use the 32Gb card in it (it comes with 8Gb but that doesnt allow much recording with 2 cameras) but the ad says ti use lass 6 or above or it may damage the camera?

i do, but i was already on the forum and its easier to let you guess tell me than to scroll through URL's to find the answer

As snooper says, write speed.
It won't damage your camera, but there is a significant risk that the card will get corrupted if it's too slow for the camera. You may also find your camera hanging or giving an error if it can't write fast enough (this will go away by just removing and reinserting the battery).

For the sake of a tenner, it's not worth trying to "get by" with a slower card.

well i have just found another 2 x 8Gb class 10's, the camera comes with a 8Gb class 6 i think so i should be ok for now...will get a decent speed 32Gb once the camera is here and ive tested it a bit

i have basically got rid of the cheap one i bought before (there is a thread about it) because the field of view was crap, it claimed to have 120 degree viewing angle but it was move like 80...plus the video quality wasnt good enough with moving vehicles...

i had an issue with a bell end in a company van that nearly drove into the side of me merging lanes on a roundabout, then put his foot down cut across me and 2 lanes, started shouting abuse at me then cut back infront of me and slammed his brakes on...

i sent the footage to the police but they sent back that they couldnt clearly make out the number plate or the company name so couldnt pursue it...

so, i have now bought the same unit my father has...its one of these ones that clips over and replaces your rear view mirror, but has an 8M front camera, a 5M rear facing camera, screen built into the mirror and picture in picture from front/rear cams and if wired into brake light it will give a reversing camera when reverse is selected...for 30 quid i cant fault the quailty on his and mine is coming from the same seller. the quailty on his one is on par with next base 1080HD cameras for the front, and only marginally worse for the rear.

its the same spec as my fathers and the same seller just a slightly different advert, but he has had his a while now so the altered ad doesnt bother me too much

its also the ocean code, fish are only allowed to swim towards the right hand side and away from the left so its seen in their rear view mirror
