Noticed yesterday morning my gate was open, checked the camera to see two scumbags in my garden carrying a pickaxe and a bar, the ******** aren't doing any gardening at that time in the morning, probably just smashed in someone's back door.Scumbags.

I went to some lengths to disguise a small CCTV camera as a pot plant on my kitchen windowsill a few years ago: shame the IR LEDs got relected back by the glass and swamped the sensor. When I tried it outside you could read the company logo on my T-shirt at 25 feet, I'd have had no trouble getting a face identified from the quality of it.

I was interviewed for a job with a company that makes (or did make) covert surveillance kit about a dozen years ago; amongst their stuff was a high-res low-light camera hidden in a traffic cone that could be deployed, say, around a hijacked aircraft on the ground. God knows what they could do with the kit that's around nowadays...

i guess all you can do is slow them down the longer it takes them the more chance there is of them getting caught



how about a camera flash on a pir and a sign saying 'smile for crimestoppers' or 'smile your on the internet'

If it's a dark area they need to bring the lighting or night vision. Use the PIR sensors to alert you and trip silent deterrents delaying their escape. You're only afraid of what you don't know and panic sets in when the easy in becomes a difficult out.

Amazing that someone has the nerve to walk up to your door and see if its open. Did you send the footage to the cops?

The dashcam in my car is just an ebay cheapy, not bad for the money but if I have another one It will be one of those with GPS built in, its surprising what you catch on it, the other night 2 cars in front of me had a small nudge in traffic, one drove off and the second one chased after and deliberately rammed it, 2 girls as well.

Did email the local community cop about the door incident, no response so far, although its only been 6 weeks, early days yet.

A while back I came home and saw the alarm box flashing and the siren going; as I pulled into the drive I found my neighbour with golf club ( driver) in hand. Said he had heard the alarm and came round prepared, suggested if there was someone we could just dig a hole and bury them.......
