Between our conservatory and garage is on old tree. Multi stemmed, and not at all happy, I have had to keep cutting out the dead over the past couple of years, and now there is little left of it ... and that is yellowing as we speak.
We were going to remove it and replace it with another small tree a little further down the garden, but could not decide on what to get, or even if it would be a good idea.
Part way down the garden we have a rose arch with a rambling rose on it. The rose is far too big for the arch, it swamped it in no time. This year alone it has sent our new shoots which are 5ft log or so.
I suggested that to replace the tree, we have a new rose arch attached to the garage wall, so we can relocate this rampant rose, and it can have a big arch and the length of the garage to climb along.
Spent a long time trying to design something fancy, but eventually decided on something simple. After all it will be covered by the rose for most of the year.
This is one half of the arch. It will be separated from it's twin by about 2ft long horizontal bars.
The arched part is separate to the upright. For ease of erecting it (it would be very heavy and unwieldy), and because I don't have enough space to make it in one piece.

Just got to now make up some attachment points so I can bolt the two pieces together, and the top section to the garage wall.
Oh for a big flat work area
