Yes mate, I can see it now that I am not trying to do three things at once.No Keith, it's a Dzus fastener. Used in competition cars, motorcycles and, especially, on military equipment and planes.

Just watched a handy video on them....quite clever....looks like they are ordered "by length"
Can't see me every using these instead of just a rivet nut ....but I guess they have their uses in applications where there is heavy vibration maybe?
The female receptacle is basically a S shaped wire. The length of the male is dependant on the item it is joining.
