I go to the grocery and get the 1-gallon refill bottles of cheap spray cleaner (i.e. store-brand of Windex).

Dilute 50/50 with distilled water in summer, near straight in winter. Been -7C (20F) did not freeze.

Cost like $1/gallon, works and is cheap.

i use pure screenwash as i get it at trade, 1 gallon of concentrate is about £1.75

theres a huge mark up on the stuff, you can sell it for up to £7 a gallon

Bunged in neat Halfords blue they reckon its good for nimus 5 oC and added 1/2 litre of methylated spirits. ( meths in a gallon container from a horse feed stuff & supplies place )

re the thawing of frozen washer bottles .
I have used the following .
start engine and run till the temp gets to move the guage off zero and then cover thewhole bonet with a big old blanket and sit in the car with the engine running at just over tick over till the guage moves to mid heat position which takes about 20 minutes then switch off go and do some thing else for 1/2 hr and repeat the exercise three or four times which is usualy sufficient to thaw the wash system enough to let you add in neat meths and so long as you go on a reasonable journey should mix wth the now slush and dissolve it .

Otherwise .... on my two diesels I've lifted the bonnet and carefully put in a small fan heater with it pointing at the washer bottle , put the big blanket over the open bonnet to keep the heat in and wind out ,then left the heater on for three or four hours till it was well and truly thawed ,then added a 1/4 litre of meths into the tank and topped it up with a charge of new screen wash and meths at the 1/2 litre per gallon rate. and run a few seconds of it through the washers . The spare gallon in the car is pre treated with meths and so are the other two gallons in the garage.

Trouble with that is sometimes you'd need fifty or so kettles of boiling water to do the job , where it lands on the ground it frequently turns it into a skating rink as it freezes . I'd not even bother to try it on my concreted drive as it would run back towards the house like a glacier.

You also have the tendency for the condensate to freeze elsewhere on the engine /electrics and that could cause you further problems .

The boiling water may also affect the paint work & any plastic it comes into contact with .
