Scratch starting

Hello All,

Use my small clarke inverter now and again for tig welding but seem to have trouble starting off as i manage to stick the electode to the workpiece(scratch start).

Has anybody got any tips for smooth starting?.

if i got one of these small ac tig set is the any torchs that you can use with a triger on them or is it just scratch start ??

If it is AC TIG it will have HF start and not need scratch start.

Using a trigger has nothing to do with needing scratch start. The machine needs to support lift-start or HF start to not need scratch start.
