Great project Inchpincher, how did you get on with the sandblasting in the end? Seems to have done the job.
Also would be interested to find out where you bought the leadloading gear from. I know frost sell the stuff but they're not cheap!
Hi Mr Caine.
Sandblasting was good (thanks for the J-blast btw! ), I changed the nozzle for a tungston carbide one, got a £10 tent from argos and got busy. Seriously messy business though, even with overalls, mask, gloves, hood etc I had the media in my ears and under my toenails!
Definitely worth having it for the results you can get, I've done ali bits by dropping the pressure to 25psi and it's great. Best advice I got from rtbcomp was not to blast directly, keep it at roughly 45 degrees and it's less aggressive.
The lead loading gear was from frosts, it's the 'starter kit' for 30 quid. I've done quite a few bits but I keep all the filings and re-melt them. I forgot, I already had the body files (the ones adjust convex/concave) from a job-lot of tools from ebay and they can set you back a bit.
Here's a good vid for anyone who's interested...
Lead Loading Sequence
Few greasers lurking about round here eh?
Got to confess I've been looking at some of the cafe racers on ebay lately
Ended up adding a repro lucas light to the back of the vespa this weekend via a funny homemade spacer->
I'm happy with it but I won't give up my day job!
