I’m a machinist by trade, but I’ve never used one, and now I have a job that may need one. My Jago hot rod has a dropped tube front axle, using Ford Pop spindles and a custom built axle. The king pins are slightly loose in the axle, and the spindle bushes are a touch loose on the king pins. Which leads to several mm of play at the wheel rim, which is not good.
I’ve read that 0.010” over sized king pins are available, so reaming out to fit a couple of them appears to be the answer. I have no real idea how to align things to ream either accurately. Is there a ‘lead’ on the reamer for this sort of job, or do I have to kit it up with some sort of guide to make sure it is all 100% square and true?
Or is there somewhere reputable in the west mids I can drop off the parts and cross my fingers?
