I have run out and the only sensibly priced source is Amazon. I found what I wanted, a box of 100 11p size and then get confronted with this nonsense:

They already have my name, address and knowledge that I am over 18.

I have had that message for many items, some without a blade of any sort. Sometimes the delivery guy will check and others he has dropped it on step and ran away before I can get to the door.

None on Ebay, normal dealers something like twice the price with VAT and delivery added. If they think I am giving some random driver official ID, they have another think coming. I have registered my disapproval with them, but naturally it will go no further than file 13.

Mrs Robo ordered a knife from Amazon to use at the stable, delivery guy asked my date of birth, I refused so he wouldn't hand the parcel over and took it away, Mrs Robo wasn't very happy

You can get decent ones from veterinary suppliers for about £15 a box. It's not worth messing about with the unbranded ones.

So would a vet sell me some? Looked at Hobbycraft et al, but nothing doing. I like the look of the 11p but have used 10a up to now.

Last time I tried to buy a Stanley knife from Amazon it wouldn't accept any of the details either way, so I just bought it from an online tool shop which required no other checks....

It's all pretty pointless - The stabby kids just steal kitchen knives, and the criminal ones already have access to a plethora of knives, guns and assorted weapons and oddly aren't concerned with whether it is legal or not.

The only people it actually seems to make it difficult for is the average law abiding Joe bloggs, as usual.

My feelings exactly. I did put as part of my complaint that we are not talking about a ceremonial sword, or kitchen knives nor even a machete. What we are discussing is tiny craft knife blades. Still in this glorious nanny state, nobody will be the faintest bit interested in applying logic and common sense, when we can all be wrapped in cotton wool instead. Makes my blood boil, especially when it is far more hazardous using the wrong type of blade for what I am trimming.

Yes but there was a time that they used to carry stanley knives with two blades in which gives a double cut and takes ages to heal and leaves a scar.

And now they just carry a six inch kitchen knife, stab you a dozen times in the gut and let you die on the pavement....
If somebody wants to do harm to somebody else, they will find a way to make that happen.

It is already an offence to carry a knife in public, and to sell them to an under 18. Under 18s can't have a credit card either. Therefore, logically an under 18 already cannot legally buy a knife from Amazon on a credit card.
A fake ID is hardly much effort to produce/obtain, and is a courier really going to check it properly?

We can keep heaping on more and more legislation and more and more hoops to jump through, but ultimately if somebody wants to obtain a sharp pointy thing to do harm they are going to, irrespective of what the law says.

Rather than adding more and more legislation, it would be better for them to actually act on the stuff already in existence and deal with the gang issues in the first place.
It is very clear to everybody what and where the problem is, but nobody wants to tackle it so they just throw out some more token gestures instead.
The same reason I can't top up my battery either - it is very frustrating!

Therefore, logically an under 18 already cannot legally buy a knife from Amazon on a credit card.

Amazon lets you stay logged in and only one click to purchase so very easy for a child sneaking onto dads pc, so I agree something is needed.

You will never stop the criminals intent on carrying a knife but it may reduce the ease for a 13 year old from self harming or something like that. There is a reason they wont sell bladed items to under 18's in a real shop and I sort of agree with it.
