Scaffolding hoist

Hi has anyone in the building trade got a scaffolding hoist for hoisting roof tiles etc the cheapo ones on eBay look OK for just lifting has anyone had any experience with a ebay hoist? Thanks in advance

I assume you have checked the relevant HSE type stuff regarding them? I just think I remember a tale of caution?

never done it that way

always done it by handball 3 at a time up a ladder or by a pulley hoist

however regs on building sites arnt the same has to be a tile lift nothing is meant to be carried on ladders

I know a guy that has had 2 or 3 hoists for taking tiles up to the roof, But he has had them for donkeys years and in use every day, He would rather part with one of his kids than sell one as his model are no longer available.

Go hire a bumper hoist , your roofing supplier will usually have one they hire out , have a look at a local hire centre , a bumper will take up all types of tile , just a big conveyor belt with brackets revolving,
get some one at the top to unload who can stack the tiles quickly or you'll have a whole heap of trouble ,
I wouldn't dream of loading a roof out without one,

I was looking at this the other day - for hauling the Sandrail up the steep drive if it broke down at the bottom!

Years back when I built my workshop / garage buildings at the last place, I used one of those hoists you illustrate but I attached it to a platform that slid up and down my ladder. Still a two man job but saved a lot of grunt.
