I was looking at the 7m version but cant decide if it would be unstable. The price doesn't seem too bad.

Just don't even think about not using the stabilisers.

I'd second @mtt.tr's query over planned usage and floor level.

My scaffolding poles are 25ft tall (so just over your 7m) and you'd get a fair chunk of "classic" scaffolding for that price, although mine are Ali and much nicer to flip around and carry about. More versatile but slower to setup.

But I did need double height - all for 2 slates that had slipped... . Yeah HSE doesn't exist down here but to be fair there's over 3m of 12mm threaded rod resined into the wall to anchor the scaffolding (that's 3m actually in the wall not extended out).

Once I bring it down will be bolting some climbing anchor points onto a short stub of the threaded rod so that for future work I can just abseil down the side of the house .

I use one of their industrial towers at work.

Apart from having to be very sure it goes up and stays square and level it has been very good.
If it gets out of level the tube clips become very hard to undo.

I have a heavy duty steel scaffold tower its 5x5 foot and goes to 28 foot your not supposed to go 3 times its with without outriggers but its solid as a rock on level ground much more rigid than light duty aluminium crap that's supposed to be legal

If possible i always drill the wall of house and fix 2 eyes and tether each side will rope...those stabilizers are not worth a carrot once your up to gutter height as they can walk as it wobbles about..we use this system when not using ticketed scaff

I have used that very one in a very narrow alley. I did secure it to the house wall with ties and rope and all went well Good value if used for occasional use .

Its for occasional use really....but I have a lot of uses:

• I still haven't re-pointed the chimney/fixed the flashing from a thread a while back on here so thats still weeping water in in bad weather!
• I also have another leak in the roof that's become apparent in the last few days and being able to access the roof area from a stable platform from which I can position and move onto a roof ladder would be good.
• I have a lot of exterior walls to paint - and part of that means bridging across a conservatory so could use a tower in two halves to do this...
• I want to put new lights up in the workshed but I currently need to put the ladder in the bucket of the neighbours JCB to reach the apex of the shed roof.... (I think its 7.4m to the top).

I don't have a huge budget to spend on this as once these jobs are done it will be stored a lot of the time. The one I link to is reasonably good value especially since others on here have said they are pretty steady/firm to use. I would love an old MOT failed cherry picker as I could use that for the hedges, but there aren't any available at the moment near me! I have costed up scaffold and planks and I just dont need to spend that much...

I have something very similar to the one in OP’s link. Bought the £400 DIY-rated tower a few years ago for a single job (repairs on the gables of a bungalow) with the platform never more than about 3m above ground level, and set up on level patios. It was fine for that task, way better than working off a ladder, but still a bit wobbly (even with stabilisers) and I would hate the thought of working at 7m height.

If you plan to use it on a 2-storey house, avoid all DIY-type towers and get something rated for professional use (Youngmans Boss is one of the best known) -- nearly three times the price, but well worth the extra, and easily re-sold (something thieves will also be aware of).

Look for a cheaper option with adjustable height wheels

Will pay off when it requires a lot of moving around

It's paid for itself multiple times over and as I've always got it I'm more likely to use it

Great for flat roofs. I roll it around on the slab instead of crawling around on joists and on steps.

Had to use it Thursday to get a double glazed timber sash out far too heavy to do from inside and no way I could board it up on ladders.

I hired one to do the chimney. I had to have an extra section to reach the height. It was called a TTT (through the tower) and the hardest part of the job was assembling it, we had to watch a few youtube videos and I had help with passing bits up that were too heavy for my wife to handle. It needed the outriggers but it was perfectly stable but I would hire one rather than buy and have it stored as it took a lot of room up.
