SBR and recoat time?

Following in from my previous question -

SBR has a time window for the render to be applied.

If I'm not ready to render, can I apply an SBR cement slurry, and then recoat with the same later.

Ie is there an issue with two SBR coats?

The reason I want to do this is to get some waterproofing on thermalite blocks, but, due to windows not being sorted yet, I don't want to do the render top coat yet.

Or would it be better to do the SBR slurry, then a scratch coat in the suggested window, and then let this fully harden before the top coat?

Yes t will be fine, drying times will be affected though

Thank you. When you say drying time, what do you mean?

And are you suggesting I do two SBR coats, or an SBR then scratch (then the pause)?

If you let the base coat dry then sbr it like a new job, gives you some temporary protection. .. With render you usually get some suction into the base layer which reduces the setting tine a bit, once you sbr you loose that, so it will take a little longer to set off but it's mot a big deal unless you are up against time

So do as you plan, then when you come back to it treat it as if it was a new job., and prime again....

if you have primed a wall with sbr and has dried. when you come to work on the wall at a later date and re coat prime virtualy neat then when its gone tacky either render or plaster whatever and it will stick fine

Right, so back to square one....

I *thought* i was supposed to mix up a SBR / cement slurry? Ive read anything from 1:1 sbr:cement to 1:2 sbr:cement to 1:1:1 sbr:cement:sharp sand...

So are you saying do the slurry (as above) and then, when needed, do another neat sbr coat, and then the scratch?

doing damp proof tanking the 1st coat is sbr mixed with cement about 1 part sbr to 5 parts water to a paste and paint on then 2 coats of tanking slurry mixed with a 50 percent sbr and water. if you are rendering the wall a sbr cement slurry will give a good 1st key coat for whatever you apply

No just prime... diluted as appropriate
