My name is Hillbilly or HB for short and wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been a troll on here for awhile and have learned so much from this site about welding in the past month or two that I wanted to sign up and say thanks and that this is a great site.
The patience I witnessed in one post was amazing! I do not want to say the posters name but I believe he was restoring a classic car and was welding on the chassis. I have never laughed so hard in my life.
I am a Jeep nut and you can find me on my Jeep club bsjeepers.com when I am not working or reading post here. I am restoring an ole classic 79 CJ5 for my daughter so this is what got me interested in welding recently. I have studied the photos of good and bad welds and watched the vids over and over in your tutorials section. Read a million post on here that had answers to what I need know. I would like too when I have time post a few pictures of my welds to get some constructive criticism from you guys. My welder is just for small stuff, the Lincoln Handy Mig 110 MIG. i am going to be upgrading because it turns out I really like to weld more than I thought I would.
I rock crawl my 99 TJ Jeep and am in the middle of making tube fenders for it right now and would like to get my welds looking real good for when I put the skin on them. I think a good weld adds to the aesthetics very much. I am constantly throwing beads on a piece of plate I have. I also am welding scrap pieces of DOM .120 wall tubes and such to it just for practice.
Thanks again for a great board and I look forward to learning so much more on here.
