low quality cast like aero chocolate
Odd. Lead weights are more common than steel. Usually square or round with 10mm hole through for cord. Probably trying to save a few Bob on weights. My elder son got quite a few new windows made for his victorian house, including bay windows, The new weights supplied by the firm were just differing lengths of mild steel square bar about 1.1/2 square with a three-quarter washer welded vertically to one end for the sash cord attachment.
Not argueing but I think this belies what you are saying ;https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_...&_nkw=cast+iron+window++sash+weights&_sacat=0Odd. Lead weights are more common than steel. Usually square or round with 10mm hole through for cord. Probably trying to save a few Bob on weights.
If a window I'm repairing is staying single glazed I'll happily reuse it. Double glazed and they go in the scrap bin. Not worth holding on to them on the off chance I'll balance a sash of the same weight soon.
