I was at an airshow and the Tanoy announcer commented they we should listed to the sound of both a Spitfire and a Mustang that were about to fly over as they sounded different despite being basically the same engine.A few years ago I was working in my garden, 2 Lancasters flew over in low level formation before landing at Prestwick, the sound of 8 merlins was something to behold.
Do it. I have done a few over last 25 years or so. Your children will love it.Been talking about taking the boys for a while. What else is on. Might pop down.
I'm junc 13 m1 it's a hop and a skip for me. We were planning one of the 3 day weekends as we wouldn't need to camp.Do it. I have done a few over last 25 years or so. Your children will love it.
I was looking at the gauges, nothing untoward. When it went it felt for all the world like an almighty misfire, then came the smoke. The crank case is going to be U/S but with any luck we will be able to save the rest and find a crank case.bet that was a bit of a shock no warning when it let go then
Peter does have a second engine which was on the list to rebuild and swap onto the trailer, worst comes to worst we will swap the crank cases, but he’s going to try to find a good crank case firstThat must have been gutting when you saw the whole.
How difficult is it to find parts? Can you maybe beg a museum to swap a crank case from one of their display engines? Must be plenty of static ones around that could be rebuilt.
Is the crank case different between the Merlin and the Meteor?
That's a pisser and I'm sorry to see it
I don't suppose there's too many of those laying about in someone's shed waiting to be discovered.
I’ll be the fatter one wearing a caterpillar hat!
Peters put the message out to find one, otherwise it’ll be a rebuild of the complete spare XXThat's a pisser and I'm sorry to see it
