Have an old '82 GPz500. One of those ebay deals for $96 Basically complete and only 11k miles. Was originally for a parts bike, but it runs and has everything stock. Did need to replace carbs and tank as about 8 years with old gas in it rotted out carbs and tank.
Aluminum wheels and engine are white with corrosion. Have tried polishing compound on the wheels, but will take forever.
The engine would also take forever. It is "black chrome", but really looks like a paint.
I think sandblasting is the answer. Then polish/paint. I'm considering glass beads for the wheels and maybe walnut shells for the engine.
Any recommended media or other rmethods?
