Hi All I am in the throes of stripping and repairng my S2 land rover chassis,it is to be a complete stripdown, repair and repaint,is it feasible to shot blast it at home ,I have a 1.5 hp comp with a 25l tank,if not does anyone have an idea as to cost and if anyone in the Medway area does it,thanks
You'll really need a pot-type blaster and at least a 3hp compressor. Machine Mart now sell the popular "Ebay" pots, don't go for their gravity feed system with a syphon gun.
You also have to consider dealing with all the dust!
I did my SIII wheels, tub, wings, bonnet & bulkhead as it was cheaper to buy the kit than to pay someone to do it. This has now developed into a fulltime business.
You could try Underdown Plant Hire & Blast Cleaning. They have alot of experience in working on cars. They are between Canterbury and Herne Bay which is not to far away. I am just about to have my MGBGT done and was quoted £300-350 for blasting and priming.
Been blasting a Landy bumper today. V.slow with crapola suction gun 3mm nozzle and 14cfm displacement (9.5 FAD) / 150 litre compressor, and it was working pretty much all the time.
