Hi i am looking for a pressure sand blaster but i am not sure which one to buy. I have an ebay blast pot but to small for the job at hand.
I am Blasting a tractor and tractor panels also so any suggestions on a blast pot i would be grateful.
I have a ingersol rand road compressor also.

depends on what cfm your comp is as to what size pot and jets u can use

Have you tried going to a larger nozzle on the Ebay blast pot. That's what I did when I got my road compressor to speed things up. You'll still end up filling the pot fairly often especially if you've only got the 10 gallon model.

Think I tried making my own 1/4" bore nozzle on the lathe out of stainless steel as a try out. Doesn't last as long as the professional tungsten carbide ones but a lot longer than the silly ceramics tha come with the pot.

The compressor is a deutz two cylinder diesel air compressor but when i bought it the owner did not have a clue on the amount of cfm it has i did some research and i could find any thing but it could run two air breakers also the owner lost the manuel of the compressor

probably 90cfm ish with a 2 cylinder u could go for a 6mm jet and use half inch bore blast hose the reg ball valve and pipework would be a let down on the diy pot though a clemco minipot would be ideal, this one is based upon one

home made but it has verry similaritys i made the 1st one 35 years ago and sold it . its still going strong apart from new jet and hose

curriousity how much did it cost you to make the blast pot

a minipot cost about £1.000
i managed to buy the blast hose brass coupling and 6mm carbide jet for 60 quid 25 for the water seperator and the rest is home made including the sand valve the only diffrene is a minipot has a deadmans trigger to operate the the air supply and a pop up filler valve on the top of pot . both arent realy needed

Just wondering would i be able to make my own out of the ebay blast pot by stripping it down and updating it with the bits and bobs needed for it.

yes just increase the the fittings and pipe sizes to half inch bsp it means cutting out welding bigger fitings in to the existing pot though

you mean the holes in the tank for the valves and pipes would it be safe to weld on to the actual tank.

can i ask you both how much noise your diesel compressors make and an idea on how much they cost to run and last on full tank ect ?

mines quite noisy as i only have an intermediate silencer on it . its a 3 cylinder perkins diesel there is more noise from the jet than the comp . and i only have one neighbour and he dont moan or complain there quite economical to run

sparky that valve you designed at the base, looks like its based on a cam idea where if you turn the valve partially you can reduce the amount of grit by metering it, i also assume in conjuction with reducing the psi the combination of both would greatly increase its versatility, am i right or am i talking aload of....

no your quite correct u can control the flow of media and control the air pressure to suit diffrent media and a lighter blast on panels ect
