Samurai saws

I got one of these for sneaky firewood missions , my folding Silky saw has done its time and the big ones cost a fortune, this Samurai one is just as fast for half the price, how long it keeps sharp is unknown, though it is identical to a Silky blade, same teeth and same grind. This thing will go through a 4 " green Ash branches like butter and 6" with a bit of effort , i'm well pleased with it.

I can second that. I borrowed my neighbour's. It went through green wood easily. I was cutting 5 and 6 inch boughs.

What are you using it for? Silkys are good for climbers but I wouldnt use one on the ground. However I just keep a smaller folding saw as a backup and use chainsaw or secatuers for nearly everything these days.

The rubber clip on the scabbard breaks off and the handle is not the most durable, but the blade works fine.

Have one of these, but did I mention, I have many chainsaws...?

20 foot up an unsecured ladder! Risky stuff, bigger peices can swipe it from under you or collpase it - which I have seen happen, tho he wasnt on the ladder at the time.
I'm much happier with a rope into the tree.

Stub cuts like that will cause an explosion of growth, giving you something to do in the next years... unless it is a removal

Smashed through this 6" dead Elm.

Once you get the hang of only putting pressure on the pull stroke it cuts easier and faster than a normal saw, Japanese pruning saws make a joke out of the old bow saws.
